Font is whack on Chrome / Fedora

For the past few days I seem to be getting a different font on Chrome/Fedora – was the font changed? particularly the letter “r”.

no the font wasn’t changed. maybe something going on with fedora’s text rendering? or it’s using a totally diff font (maybe woff2 isn’t supported?)

what does whatfont extension say? https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/whatfont/jabopobgcpjmedljpbcaablpmlmfcogm

It does seem to be osakamono-kinopio, just… strange :). I’ll try my ubuntu setup to see if it has the same behavior.

Messing around with the CSS a little bit, the mis-sized letters seem to be a function of the selected font-size. It’s broken at sizes 12px, 14px, 16px have this weirdness.
The remaining sizes (odd ones in the 10-18 range), <=10, >=18 seem to be fine.

Thanks knl, that’s super helpful. I might’ve missed it but is that on all linuxes or just fedora? I maybe could make a mediaQuery to bump up the size a pt for Linux if there’s a way to target it …

Just checked: it’s also happening on my second laptop in Ubuntu + (Chrome & Firefox), same fix of changing to 15px, etc.
