does not affect safari ios
get cursor position seems to work properly in Get/Set Caret Position in TextArea/Input using JavaScript - Vishal Monpara

weird, now i can’t repro this on safari desktop or anywhere. Perhaps it was a browser bug that was silently patched? let me know if this is still an issue
